Sangkuriang
Sangkuriang is a famous legend from Indonesian folklore that tells the story of a young man who unknowingly falls in love with his own mother. According to the tale, Sangkuriang was a skillful and handsome young man who lived with his mother, Dayang Sumbi, in a tranquil village.
One day, Sangkuriang went hunting in the forest and came across a beautiful woman. Little did he know, the woman was his long-lost mother, Dayang Sumbi, who had been separated from him when he was a child. Ignorant of their true relationship, Sangkuriang and Dayang Sumbi fell in love and decided to marry.

Sangkuriang, determined to win his mother’s hand in marriage, called upon supernatural beings to help him complete the colossal task. However, as dawn approached and the dam was almost finished, Dayang Sumbi cleverly intervened by creating the illusion of sunrise using red silk.
Believing that he had failed, Sangkuriang flew into a rage and kicked the dam, causing it to collapse and creating the vast crater now known as Lake Bandung. Heartbroken and filled with regret, Sangkuriang wandered the land and became the mythical figure associated with the creation of Mount Tangkuban Parahu.
